Paddling with wolves - day tour
You will be surprised of the level of wilderness - and wildlife - you can find in the forests of Østmarka. A large part of the area is a protected nature reserve.
Østmarka is easy accesible from Oslo. This is a beautiful tour and a wonderful, slow adventure. If you go in May, September or October, you will most likely meet few or no other people during the tour, in particular if you avoid the weekends. But even in summer we seldom meet other canoes inside the nature reserve.
At 08.00 (later if agreed) the guide(s) will pick you up at your hotel or another agreed pick-up point. Transport time to the starting point at Losby is approximately 25 minutes (pending traffic).
From Losby we roll the canoes on canoe-trolleys about one kilometer on a gravel road to the lake where the paddling will start.
A basic introduction to canoe-paddling and a security brief will be given here before we start paddling.
We paddle southwards through narrow straits and over small lakes surrounded by dense woods. After an hour or so we cross into the nature reserve and a short portage will take us to another lake where we find a nice spot to have lunch.
We prepare a proper lunch, often around the fire, and enjoy the tranquility, the scenery and the feeling of being out in the wilderness.
After lunch we paddle North again and eventually end up where we started and roll the canoes back to Losby for transport back to the civilization in Oslo.
Normally we arrive back in the centre of Oslo around 16.30h.
Transport from Oslo and back again.
All necessary paddling equipment (canoe, paddles, life west).
Lunch prepared in the outdoors.
Skillfull guide(s) who will be with you all the way from pick-up to delivery.
