What kind of clothes do I need for a snowshoe-hike?

In winter there is usually a lot of snow in the Oslo forests. When temperatures are low (below -2 or more) the snow is dry and you will seldom get wet. In mild weather (-1 or warmer) the snow will get wet and chances of you getting wet as well will increase. Make sure to bring warm clothes! A typical kit would be:

  • warm winter shoes/boots

  • Mittens/warn gloves

  • A warm cap

  • Buff or scarf

  • Thick wool sweater/fleece

  • Inner layer, preferably wool or thin fleece. Bring one extra, to change to a dry one when having a break.

  • Warm socks. Bring an extra pair in case your feet gets wet.

  • Pants suitable for the outdoors.
