Nordmarka classic expedition

This expedition starts in one of the most beautiful, remote and wild areas of Oslomarka. Although you might meet an occasional padler or hiker in the peak season it is definitely considered an area far away from the crowds, unknown to tourists and to most Norwegians except the lucky few that have disovered this sublime gem of wilderness. We have to drive around the West-side of the forests to get there, approximately 90 minutes drive from the centre of Oslo. We think you will find that it is worth it. The area is great for both canoeing and hiking.

Spålen-Katnosa nature reserve is located here, by many considered the tenderloin of Oslomarka. We would argue that nowhere in Oslomarka will you get a stronger feeling of being in the wilderness than here, whether it is summer or winter.

Nordmarka Classic Expedition:

A classic adventure tour for families and explorers alike. A canoe expedition through Nordmarka that many Norwegians dream of doing at least once in their lifetime. The Nordmarka Classic Expedition will take you all the way through Nordmarka from North to South via 12 - 15 lakes, depending on the route we choose. If you want to get know the spirit of Oslomarka and impress local Norwegians, then join us for the Nordmarka Classic. We allways recommend to use four days on this expedition, especially for families travelling with children, but it can also be conducted in three days.

You will be picked up in the centre of Oslo at 08.00 in the morning for transport to the Northwestern corner of Nordmarka.

We paddle South over several lakes in a beautiful and wild terrain in the Spålen-Katnosa nature reserve. The first night is usually spent on the shore by lake Katnosa, or on one of the small islands in the lake.

In the evenings your guide will prepare a delicious dinner and there will be time to do some fishing, to take a swim or just enjoy the nature and the company in the Nordic night when it hardly gets dark at all during summer.

There are a few portages and some streches where we roll the canoes on canoe-trolleys on gravel roads. We paddle on big and small lakes through the heart of Nordmarka before we end up in the southern tip of lake Øyungen on the last day. From there we use the canoe-trolleys on a dirt road for about 1 km to a former military camp where our transport is waiting to take us back to the centre of Oslo.
