Our fixed mountain hiking tours take place in areas located within a reasonable distance from Oslo. In that way you can find time for a proper high mountain hiking tour even if you only have two or three days to spare outside the capital. These wilderness areas are unknown treasures to most foreign visitors.

Our favorite area is Lifjell, a mountain area in Telemark county about two hours drive from Oslo. We have hiked all over the country but still find Lifjell to be the perfect place even if it is a rather unknown area for adventure travellers. Lifjell has the perfect match between being challenging but not too rough, it has great panorama view from almost everywhere and some magnificent peaks that is easily accessible. It is close to Oslo but still we hardly meet anyone else when hiking there. In our view this wild and majestic mountain is ideal for hiking tours between two and five days.

What you get:

  • Transport from your hotel or address in Oslo and back again when the tour is over.

  • All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner every day) prepared in the outdoors.

  • Accommodation in expedition style tents or basic huts, sleeping mats included.

  • A skilled guide with local knowledge who will be with you all the way. Our guides are able to cope with unexpected circumstances and emergency situations.

  • A small group of fellow hikers. Maximum six people in the group.

  • Between two and four days hiking in a beautiful and remote mountain area.

Price: From 2500 NOK/person. Actual price on request. Will depend on number of days and persons.

What we do

We pick you up at an agreed pick-up point in Oslo, usually at your hotel, and drive in a comfortable mini-van to the starting point at Lifjell in Telemark county.

Upon arrival your guide will describe today’s hike and go through some basic security instructions.

Food will be repacked so that we all carry some of the food we need for the hike. Water in lakes and streams is drinkable throughout the area.

Around noon we start hiking into the area. The route will be decided by the guide and will depend on how many days the hike will last. Very soon we will be up on the mountain plateau and will enjoy our hike in spectacular surroundings. We will take brakes as needed.

In the afternoon we set up the camp together and start preparing our meal. After dinner some like to take a short stroll around the camp, others like to fish, rest in their tents or listening to stories with the rest of the group before the sleeping bag awaits for a good nights sleep.

The following day(s) will take you through more spectacular landscape and to peaks with panoramic views. On the longer tours (3 nights or more) we might spend one night in a basic cabin with cooking facilities.

Transport back to Oslo will be waiting for you at the end of the hike.
