Thank you for for visiting our web page! My name is Bjorn Svenungsen and I am the founder of Oslo Outdoor. Besides being an outdoor enthusiast I have been a career diplomat in the Norwegian Foreign Service for 19 years. I am a former arctic guide at the archipelago of Svalbard, I have a master's degree in history and have also studied outdoor life and international human rights law. I spent a few years in the miltary and have worked and travelled in a number of countries around the world.
In 2008 I was severely injuried in a terrorist attack, an incident that made me reconsider my career and my priorities in life. Eventually I decided to go back to the basics, to spend as much time as possible in the outdoors and at the same time introduce visitors to the most exiting and beautiful nature in the world, the Norwegian wilderness.
I hooked up with an old friend and arctic guide-colleague from Svalbard, Petter Thorsen. Petter is the CEO of Wild Norway, a provider of wilderness adventures. Then my old friend and outdoor enthusiast Frode Eskelund joined the board and we were good to go.
I started Oslo Outdoor as a small and flexible company of outdoor enthusiasts whose main mission is to introduce visitors to the sublime Norwegian wilderness. Our prime idea is that you do not have to travel very far or spend many days in order to experience genuine Norwegian wilderness. You'll find it close to our capital. Remote areas away from the crowds where you can lower your shoulders, open your mind and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the outdoors. Areas largely undiscovered by foreign visitors to Norway.
Should you wish to explore other wilderness areas in Norway we have plenty of recommendations and will be happy to take you there as well.
Sustainability is one of our core values. We never leave traces in nature. But hopefully we can leave traces in your mind if you decide to join us for a tour.
See you out there!
